Supporters Urged To Come To Ibrox This Sunday For Community Event

Fri 2nd February 2018

The Rangers Charity Foundation is appealing for supporters to join them on Sunday to take part in a community clean-up of the Ibrox area.

The Foundation is looking for a team of people to enter into the community spirit this weekend by joining them to pick up litter from the streets around the Stadium from 11am.

Working together with Community Safety Glasgow and the Ibrox and Cessnock Community Council the Foundation has been organising community clean-ups for a number of months now.

Duties may include litter picking around local streets and helping identify areas that may require a little bit of extra care and attention. These voluntary events are suitable for people of all ages and all equipment will be provided.

Karen Mathie, Rangers Charity Foundation Senior Charity Executive, said: “As an active member of the community we have a number of local projects in place such as our walking football programme and weekly football fans in training sessions.

“This initiative builds on that even further as we strive to continue playing our part in being a good neighbour.”

Anyone who comes along to help out will get the chance to meet a First Team player in the future by becoming a part of the Foundation’s True Blue Hero initiative.

Each person who volunteers 25 hours of their time or more to any of the Foundation’s designated projects will be invited along to an exclusive reception at Ibrox to be presented with a True Blue Hero medal and pin badge by a First Team player!

Volunteers are asked to meet at the Argyle House Reception at the Stadium for a pre-clean team talk, and everyone will then head out for an hour or so before heading back to the Stadium for some well-deserved refreshments.

No previous experience is required to become a volunteer as all training will be provided. Anyone under the age of 16 who volunteers will need to be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.
