Sign Up for the Big Ibrox Sleep Outs 2018 – EXTRA DATE ADDED

Wed 29th August 2018

Our Big Ibrox Sleep Outs are back for 2018, giving fans the opportunity to sleep outside overnight in our iconic Stadium and support Glasgow City Mission’s Winter Night Shelter and other important projects in our city.

If you can handle spending a cold winter’s night at Ibrox Stadium with just a sleeping bag for warmth, then sign up now and help some very special causes.  This year’s Sleep Outs will be held on Friday 30 November, Saturday 1 December, Friday 7 December AND SATURAY 8 DECEMBER and aim to highlight the issue of homelessness as well as raise vital funds.  They follow on from previous hugely successful events that have done so much for homeless people in our city, raising an incredible £145,000 for homeless projects over the last three years.

For the third year running, the Foundation is delighted to announce that Rangers kit sponsor 32Red has pledged its generous support to the Foundation and to every fan taking part in the Sleep Outs.

32Red will once again kick-start every participant’s fundraising by donating their first £10 of sponsorship and will sponsor the fantastic hot breakfast provided for everyone in the morning after the event.

This season we’re once again supporting Glasgow City Mission’s Winter Night Shelter, a cause close to the hearts of our fans who have been incredible in their support for this charity.

In the first ever Sleep Outs in 2015, supporters raised £70,000, which kept the Winter Night Shelter open during the month of March, when it would usually be closed, for the next three years, as well as paying for advocacy services for those forced to use the shelter.

Once again, the Winter Night Shelter will have to close in the month of March next year, when it is still very cold, unless we can raise enough to keep this vital service going.

Half of the funds raised from this year’s Sleep Outs will go towards the March costs for the Winter Night Shelter.  The remaining funds will support the Foundation’s life-changing work in the community, including our Christmas initiatives with vulnerable young and old people in the local area, the expansion of our amazing Dream Fund experiences and assistance for important causes such as the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

“Glasgow City Mission is thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Rangers Charity Foundation. Over the past three years, the Foundation has donated more than £111,000 in cash plus in kind support to Glasgow City Mission to tackle homelessness in the city,” explained Graham Steven, Glasgow City Mission’s Marketing and Fundraising Manager.

“The Foundation has provided funding for more than 17,000 hot meals for homeless people, the furnishing and decoration of up to ten new homes for homeless people and have enabled the Glasgow Winter Night Shelter to operate for an extra month for the past three winters which has proved to be a real lifeline for many of our city’s rough sleepers and most vulnerable people.”

“No one wishes to have the need to operate a night shelter, yet whilst demand is there, Glasgow City Mission is committed to operating this alongside our service partners and we are most thankful to funders like the Rangers Charity Foundation and supporters of the Club who have enabled so much in recent years and will continue to do so this coming year.”

Sleep Out participants will spend the night at Ibrox either on the technical area pitch-side or in the stand (under cover) if the weather is wet and will get a small glimpse of the nightly conditions experienced by people in our city who are street homeless.

Fans taking part in the Sleep Out will be asked to bring along warm clothing and a sleeping bag and the Foundation will provide a ground covering, hot soup and beverages and a hot breakfast in the morning.

Every participant is asked to raise a minimum of £100 to take part in the Big Sleep Out and by doing so will also become a True Blue Hero and be invited to a special reception to receive a True Blue Hero medal from a Rangers first team player next year.

Help us be a force for good in our city and sign up below to take part, or call the Foundation on 0141 580 8775 or e-mail rangerscharity@rangers.co.uk for further information. A registration fee of £20 per person is applicable.
