Lee McCulloch and John Brown Meet Ibrox Primary Pupils at Foundation's Extra Time Programme

Rangers Legends Lee McCulloch and John ‘Bomber’ Brown met pupils from Ibrox Primary School attending the Rangers Charity Foundation’s Scottish FA Extra time after school programme at the Ibrox Community Complex yesterday.

Lee McCulloch and John BrownThe ‘Extra Time’ programme is funded via a partnership between Scottish Government and Scottish FA aimed at tackling poverty by providing affordable childcare for low-income families.

Through the programme, the Rangers Charity Foundation provides free childcare two days a week to pupils at Ibrox Primary, Pirie Park and Riverside Primary Schools. Children take part in a combination of some sport and physical activities, crafts, play, homework and groupwork. Snacks are also provided.

By providing access to free and structured children’s activity, parents and carers can increase their working hours. The Foundation also offers parents access to wellbeing drop in group sessions with our Trauma Counsellor, together with wider employability support.

Rangers Charity Foundation Chief Executive Connal Cochrane said:

“We’re hugely grateful for the support being offered to the Rangers Charity Foundation for the Extra Time project from the Scottish FA via its partnership with Scottish Government.  The range of support, from long-term after school care to school holiday provision and wider holistic support for parents and carers facing challenges will I am sure help make a really powerful difference for many families.

“Today’s activity also provides a timely opportunity to celebrate the continuing revitalisation of the Ibrox Community Complex where so many of our life-changing programmes are delivered and the fantastic platform that it will provide our wonderful work to thrive and grow in the future.”

With the valued support of the club we look forward to this community facility enabling us to develop and expand our wonderful work.”

Lee McCulloch said:

“I really enjoyed meeting the kids today and learning more about the Foundation’s Extra Time programme as well as some of the other community programmes they offer.

“The coaches make sure the kids have great fun and what a bonus to be able to use the facilities at the Ibrox Community Complex!”
