Rangers Takes Part in Glasgow’s Pride March 2024

Thu 25th July 2024

As part of its ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion and support of the Everyone Anyone campaign, staff from Rangers Football Club, Rangers Charity Foundation and members of Ibrox Pride fans’ group joined thousands of people taking part in Glasgow’s Pride March on Saturday 20th July 2024.

Tessel MiddagRangers FC player Tessel Middag joined after training on the day and said:

“I enjoyed taking part in the Glasgow Pride March to send out the signal that Rangers is a club for everyone and anyone, including the LGBT+ community.

“I think it is important that we send out a message that everyone is welcome – the more people that feel comfortable and welcome in football and Rangers specifically, the better.”

The annual event sees members and supporters of the LGBT+ community come together for a march through the city to celebrate the progress made towards equality and show support for global human rights.

Event organisers have reported record numbers yet again this year walking from Festival Park in Govan across the River Clyde and through Glasgow City Centre to Glasgow Green in a colourful procession.

In a first this year the Barras markets were then transformed into a Pride Market and Hub, featuring stalls and entertainment for crowds to continue the party. Musical acts including Whigfield, Jedward and a Girls Aloud tribute band entertained the large crowd on a stage at the Barrowland Ballroom.

Rangers staff and supporters were offered the chance to wear branded T-shirts and join behind a specially created banner which said, ‘We are proud to be for everyone and anyone’.

Rangers Charity Foundation Chief Executive, Connal Cochrane, said:

“The Club and Foundation are proud to be inclusive so it’s important for us to take part in events like these to show that Ibrox welcomes everyone and demonstrate our support for the LGBT+ community.”

“It has been a great day and the sun even came out for us!”
