£10K for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity

The Rangers First Team Squad paid a festive visit to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow today and handed over a donation of £10,000 from the Rangers Charity Foundation to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
The donation has funded decorations for the wards and Christmas activities to help bring some magic to the hospital at this special time of year. The funds are also contributing to the charity’s Schiehallion Appeal, which aims to help Scotland’s kids beat cancer by enhancing the Schiehallion Clinical Trials Centre to bring more of the latest, innovative cancer treatments to Scotland. 
The first team squad chatted with children, parents and staff, signed autographs and handed out teddy bears on the wards. Today’s visit follows the recent ‘Decoration Day’ where the Under 17 and Under 20 squads together with Club and Foundation staff and volunteers helped to make the hospital look festive.
Rangers Captain Lee Wallace commented: “We’re delighted to hand over this donation to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity from the Foundation and to meet some of the kids and their parents, as well as members of staff who are doing such a fantastic job.
“On behalf of everyone at Rangers Football Club and the Rangers Charity Foundation, we would like to wish everyone at the hospital a Merry Christmas.”
Connal Cochrane, Director of the Rangers Charity Foundation said: “The Schiehallion Appeal will help to give children with cancer the very best chance of survival and recovery, so we are proud to be able to contribute to this initiative, as well as continuing our tradition of helping to spread some festive cheer over the Christmas period.
“I’d like to thank the Rangers squad for coming along today, the young players and our volunteers for hanging the decorations and of course our supporters, whose commitment and generosity has made this donation possible.”
Kirsten Sinclair, Director of Fundraising at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the Rangers Charity Foundation and the players for their steadfast support. This generous donation will make such a difference to our young patients and their families during very difficult times, and the hospital now looks fantastic for the festive season.”
The visit was part of the Club and Foundation’s Christmas activities in the community which will see a host of local organisations benefit from donations.
