Joy of Moving Festival

Thu 20th June 2019

Over 800 young people in Glasgow enjoyed special celebration end of term events across the city thanks to our partnership with the SPFL Trust and Joy of Moving UK.

Foundation coaches got involved in Langside Primary’s sports day at Toryglen, delivering fun games and activities, and were an integral part of Health Week at Broomhill Primary.  At Burnside Primary, we took part in the ‘Empty Classroom;’ day designed to get children outdoors to play and learn.

Working with local partners Govan Youth Information Project, we took our Joy of Moving Festival to their multi-cultural event, delivering workshops and football to 160 young people from Ibrox Primary, Pirrie Primary, St Constantine’s and Riverside Primary.

Here’s just some of the brilliant feedback we had from kids who took part!

“We learned how to run and how to dribble the ball!” – Lois P1

“I liked being in a team and having fresh air, I want to play more football!” – Lily P1

“I played for Rangers today!” – Cameron P2

“Football was my favourite today as I really liked it.” – Calvin P4

“I improved my tackling and shooting skills today with Josh.”- Archie P4

“I was good at dribbling and kicking the ball high.” – Ryan P1

“I learned how to do a step-over!” – Mabel P1

“My favourite thing today was football as I learned about teamwork.” – Georgia P4

Over 1,800 children across the city have taken part in the Joy of Moving programme across the year.

Thank you to the SPFL Trust and Joy Of Moving UK for supporting the Festivals.
