HMS Queen Elizabeth Crew Members Welcomed At Ibrox
Fri 28th June 2024
The Rangers Charity Foundation and Rangers FC were delighted to welcome crew members of HMS Queen Elizabeth for a special tour of Ibrox this week.
Last month Rangers and Foundation staff had the privilege of receiving their own special tour aboard HMS Queen Elizabeth in Rosyth.
HMS Queen Elizabeth is the largest and most powerful vessel ever constructed for the Royal Navy. This awe-inspiring warship is capable of carrying up to 40 aircraft.
Led by Captain William King OBE, the ship operates with a crew of approximately 700, increasing to the full complement of 1,600 when aircraft are embarked.
Rangers FC and the Rangers Charity Foundation have an official affiliation with HMS Defender and her crew, which is currently undergoing a re-fit.
The Foundation continues to offer strong support to members of the Armed Forces through our Armed Forces Fund, which this year benefitted Bravehound and Military Matters. We also continue to offer free community programmes for those who have served in the Armed Forces and will in August be launching a brand new 14 week wellbeing programme for veterans.
We also are joint signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant with Rangers Football Club and are fully committed to advocating the role that reservists play across the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and British Army.
Through signing the Armed Forces Covenant, the Foundation and the Club were presented with the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award from the Ministry of Defence to recognise the club and Foundation’s commitment to serving personnel and veterans, making them the first British football club and club charity to be given the ERS Gold Award.
