Hebrides Mountain Rescue Donation

Wed 24th November 2021

The Foundation recently made a £2500 donation to the Hebrides Mountain Rescue Team, which provides a vital search and rescue service to communities and visitors throughout the Outer Hebrides, ranging from Barra in the south to Lewis in the north.

The donation will help towards the cost of a new base, which will allow the team to be better equipped to respond to incidents and ultimately help save lives.

Currently, search and rescue operations are run from rented premises located near the centre of Stornoway but new base will be located in Ravens Lane, where a purpose built facility will provide a dedicated storage and maintenance area for specialist rescue equipment, as well as training facilities and a meeting room.

The team is made up of 25 volunteers, who give up their time to train and help those in need in urban, hill and moorland environments.
