The Rangers Charity Foundation has made a donation to Drumoyne Community Council to help fund packed lunches for children during the summer holidays.

The grant of £1750 will support Ridgeway Dairy, based on Shieldhall Road, close to Ibrox Stadium, by continuing to feed local kids through its Packed Lunch Scheme.

Members of the local community can collect a lunch which includes a roll with filling, water or juice, fruit, crisps, yogurt, and chocolate.

The Dairy, owned by Jim Creaney, began the Packed Lunch scheme in summer 2020 during the first coronavirus lockdown and this has continued due to the ongoing need.

Lisa Devlin, Chairperson of Drumoyne Community Council said:

“The funding provided by the Rangers Charity Foundation means that we can feed 500 local children in the area, providing them with packed lunches.  Due to extremely hard times our local kids rely on these lunches more than people realise.

“The Foundation has been an amazing support for us over the past few years with the donations continuing this year.  The community as a whole appreciate this more than ever.”

Connal Cochrane, Foundation Chief Executive, added:

“We have supported the Ridgeway Packed Lunch scheme for the last two years and we were only too happy to fund this project once again.

“Being a good neighbour by supporting and working with local people is important to us and as a Foundation For Our Local Community, we are very pleased Ridgeway Dairy can continue to feed local children thanks to our contribution.”
