Foundation Hub Officer Transforms Disused School Area Into Gym For Students

Mon 18th November 2024

Recently we took a trip out to one our Hub In The Community schools – Whitehill Secondary School – to visit Community Hub Officer, Jamie McMillan.

Jamie has been working within the school to rejuvenate an old disused area and has successfully turned it into a mini gym.

As part of the Hub In The Community Programme, the Foundation has a full time Community Hub Officer in four local schools to mentor pupils in relation to their school attainment, attendance, deliver class projects, support transitions from primary to secondary school and also be a universal support within the school.

Hub Officer Jamie has been working tirelessly throughout 2024 to bring functionality back to this room within the school and the gym successfully opened its doors to pupils in October.

Check out the video above to see what Jamie has achieved as well as what pupils, Kyle and Lewis had to say about the new gym facility and the impact it has had for them.
