Foundation app downloaded by thousands in first hours

Fri 8th November 2019

Over 5,300 Rangers fans have downloaded the Foundation’s new app within the first 48 hours of its release earlier this week.

‘Fit Bears’, which enables supporters to track their physical activity and compete against fellow Light Blues for prizes, has now been downloaded by almost 6,000 users since its launch on Monday 4th November – 3,000 of which occurred in the first 24 hours.

Dr. Alex Fenton, Fan Fit Founder and Lecturer in Digital Business at the University of Salford Business School, said: “Response to the new app by Rangers fans has been incredible.

“It’s been great speaking to fans and asking them what they think about it, as well as seeing all the banter on social media already.

“We’re really looking forward to working more with the Rangers Charity Foundation and Rangers fans, as well as getting the competitions going over the next couple of months.

“We can’t wait to speak to more fans about the app in the fan zone at the game against Hearts on 01 December!”

Launched with support from Rangers FC duo, Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos, the FREE app also enables fans to keep up to date with all the latest news, social media and videos from the Club and Foundation, directly on their phone.

The app is the first of its kind in Scottish football and encourages fans to create health and wellbeing competitions with their friends and family, via private league tables.

To celebrate the launch of Fit Bears, the fans who top the fitness league for December and January will both win a signed Rangers First Team shirt*. Runners up will win a Garmin Wristband.

*Winners are calculated by the app and prizes at the discretion of the Fit Bears team. Please note that there will be different winners in each month so the prize winners of the December competition cannot win another prize in January Winners will be invited to collect their prize at the Foundation and the Fit Bears media team will also ask them to do a short interview.
