Walking Football

Our FREE Walking Football programme for anyone aged 50 and over is a great way to get more active and enjoy the social aspects that being part of a club can deliver.

Walking Football is a fast growing version of the sport which is non-contact and allows participants to play the game they love without the same risk of injury or level of exertion, whilst still boosting fitness.

The sessions take place at the Ibrox Community Complex, 80 Hinshelwood Drive, Glasgow, G51 2XD on Thursday’s at 11am.

A group of men playing Walking FootballParticipant Susan Ramsay said:

“Before I came along to the first session, I thought it would be a bit more rough and tumble but I’m glad that it’s not because it makes Walking Football accessible for everyone. It is such a good way to exercise and it’s given me an opportunity to build new friendships. Mentally it’s great as well because you get a chance for a cup of tea and time to chat afterwards too. I’ll always try and say to people, ‘come along and try it’ because it’s always a good thing to have new people coming along.”

Our Walking Football programme was launched in 2022 offering people over the age of 50 the chance to take part in a free weekly Walking Football sessions at the Ibrox Community Complex (across the road from Ibrox). This programme was previously funded by the European Football For Development Network. You can find more about EFDN by clicking here.
