Marathon Man Running to Ibrox on Behalf of Foundation

Fri 11th August 2017

Lifelong Rangers fan David Smith is undertaking a truly marathon challenge on behalf of the Rangers Charity Foundation and the MS Society – he is attmepting to run from Kirkintilloch to Ibrox Stadium and back again for every home league match!!

This amazing challenge will require David to run a marathon per home league game, which could total around 18 over the course of the season!

David, a founder member of the Bournemouth & Poole RSC, is now back living in Scotland and chose to raise funds for the Foundation as he is a big supporter of the work the Foundation does to make a difference on behalf of the Rangers Family.

He has also chosen to run for the MS Society as his wife-to-be, Jennie, was diagnosed with relapsing and remitting MS in 2008.

Speaking to the Foundation ahead of Rangers first home league game against Hibs on 12 August, David said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge. I will be leaving from the Kirkintilloch RSC and hope to be returning with a spring in my step after a Rangers victory each week.

“I’m doing the challenge as my fiance Jennie was diagnosed with relapsing and remitting MS in 2008 and I want a cure for this terrible disease and I want to help the many wonderful causes the Rangers Charity Foundation is involved with.”

The Foundation is very grateful that David has chosen the Rangers Charity Foundation to benefit from this inspiring challenge and would like to encourage all Rangers fans to cheer him on if they see him on a match day – if he’s close to Ibrox you’ll know he’s come a long way!

Of course, David would be very grateful for any sponsorship which helps him raise funds for two special causes, and you can visit his fundraising page here.

You can keep up to date with David’s challenge throughout the season by following the Foundation on Facebook and Twitter as we’ll be sharing photos and stories from what truly is a marathon challenge!  Our Twitter handle is @RFC_Charity and you can find us on Facebook here.
