Food Bank Appeal

Thu 6th September 2018

The Rangers Charity Foundation is making an urgent appeal to fans to help support our local food banks by bringing some non-perishable groceries to our next home match on Saturday 15th September against Dundee at Ibrox.

This year we will be assisting both our local food bank centre at Ibrox Parish Church and Crookston Community Group, which provides a delivery service across Glasgow to those who have difficulty traveling to their local foodbank.

Stocks are once again extremely low and demand is higher than ever, so any items you can bring to the game would be very much appreciated.

The Foundation has organised a food collection point in the fan zone in the lead up to kick-off where volunteers will collect donations from supporters.

The Food Banks welcomes all kinds of non-perishable food items but would be particularly pleased to receive donations of UHT milk, tinned meat, fish and vegetables and toiletries.

Claire McCunnie from the Ibrox Parish Church centre commented,

“Our stocks are really low and numbers are up.  During the school holidays we had 24% more referrals, as kids weren’t getting their school lunches.”

“We anticipate we’ll have fed 12,000 people by the end of the year, which is up from last year.

“Rangers supporters have been so generous in the past and we are so grateful for anything fans can bring along.”

Connal Cochrane, Director of the Rangers Charity Foundation added, “We have been overwhelmed over the last few seasons by the amount of food donated at our matchday collections and hope our fans will once again show their generous spirit and bring along a few groceries that can help replenish the food bank’s shelves.”

If you would like to help but are not attending the game we will accept food donations to the Foundation offices at Argyle House, Ibrox Stadium during office hours between now and 5pm on Friday 14th September.  If you have any questions please contact the Foundation on 0141 580 8775 or e-mail rangerscharity@rangers.co.uk
